"Considering a title of an exhibition I was going two different paths, which started to close each other in time. The first one went from the childhood, time about which we used to say that itís the best period of our lives. We used to think about a young man as about unwritten page, a sponge absorbing knowledge and behavior patterns. The second path was closer to curatorís concept, who wanted to show a contemporary time of ìstorm and pressureî, the beginning of capitalistic welfare, he wanted to show this with a light batting an eyelid but also with a nostalgia. Admiration of MTV, Lego, Barbie, matchboxes, noisy music and entertainment magazines. We were the first generation of such freedom, we could bravely say then ìit was never so good!î. Installation that I made in Zilina was an attempt to join these two contexts, a reflection on an educational process which evolves proportionally with economic-cultural development, sometimes outdistancing it, sometimes slipping away control".

Not so pretty as we think, they are ugly and they stink,

Starter Gallery, Poznań 2007
*within the „Stars wars” exhibition cycle.

Painting’s installation is accompanied additionally by looped sound – animals’ voices – in real fragments separated from hip hop tunes.
It’s hard to escape unclear feeling that monkeys are not just monkeys (!) – intelligent animals, who instinctively use their own sexuality.

Untitled

Outsiders Gallery, Poznań, 2007

In a frame of this project an idea arose of an “appropriation” of the closest environment, of people and organize this place. A hair-clip metamorphosed into a tool, and a long-lasting process of combing concentric Earth’s circles reminds a conquistador’s invasion.

FILM

In the eye of the storm, you can say good morning
and good night simultaneously
2 channel video, loop

As title of the film, as its action reminds the eye of cyclone, in which wind is weak and even subsiding. In this place there is no rainfall, but a slightly higher temperature and very low pressure. We can call such state to describe human condition in the confrontation with time. Masses of information, multitude of stimuli and speed of changes cause that we cant keep pace. Rush we are subjected renders impossible to analyze and contemplate “data”. We are standing in front of the question: or to surrender oneself to this condition, or reject this. Wishing to find ourselves in this reality, we condemn ourselves to functioning in proverbial “eye of cyclone”, where though temperature rages around us, our pulse reacts disproportionately.
