Borowa’s first medium, treated with the greatest attention, is painting. Besides that she works with drawing, graphic design, photography and video. The main impulse for her creation is her interest in human being. The subject, which relates to ourselves with our experiences, successes, failures, induces complex, often surprising inspirations and sets the path for multi-plot search. Her projects are often created as cycles. In looking there is something that you cannot spot is a session with characters painted in 1:1 scale, turned away from the viewer, with eyes fixed at some distant unknown element in the landscape. Contemplative, observing, focused, filling in the frame. The thick applied paint dries on the surface of the canvas with almost sculpture-like dimension. The decision to use the classical painting technique called pastoso is for the artist a test for exceeding of the two-dimensional of the painting’s surface. Currently she is working on her new series called Men. She realizes it together with her sister Agata. Their cooperation goes on from the 2001 under one name: Sisters. Their common projects often touch the issue of sisterhood and the special kind of rivalry between the siblings. The sequence of projects realized by Sisters has given birth to the super-sister called Beata Borowa. She became the ideal resultant of everything that happens between Dorota and her sister. She is the perfect form build from both of them and of course she creates art.
Text by: Karolina Łabowicz-Dymanus Dorota Borowa employs various visual techniques, drawing, photography, video mainly however painting. Her projects are often created as cycles like Paintings without colour, In looking there is something that you cannot spot, Men. Those allow the artist to contemplate on the subject such as the moment of staring understood as a moment of trespassing with thoughts in the subconsciousness caused usually by fixing eyes on one element of the scenery. The texture of paintings seems to constitute a challenge as well. The artist uses classical painting technique called pastoso which is based on applying thick layers of paint to obtain the sculptural texture of painting. Dorota Borowa together with Agata Borowa forms a duo called Sisters. Their projects often touch the issue of sisterhood and the relationship between sisters-friends. The sequence of projects realized by Sisters has given birth to the super-sister called Beata Borowa. Third sister became the offspring of all interactions between Dorota and Agata in both private as well as artistic space.
